Dr. Atilla Ertan


Dr. Atilla Ertan earned his medical degree in 1963 from the Ankara University Medical School in Turkey. Following completion of his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 1971, he was professor of medicine at the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans from 1980-90 where he was named Chief of the Gastroenterology Section from 1984-90 and Interim Chairman of Medicine Department from 1988-90. Then, he was Chief of the Gastroenterology Section at the Methodist Hospital/ Baylor College of Medicine from 1990 to 2001. He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at both Baylor College of Medicine as well as Weill-Cornell Medical College. He is now professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and Medical Director of the Gastroenterology Center of Excellence and Digestive Disease Center at the Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center.

Dr. Ertan has achieved national and international recognition as an outstanding clinical scientist, educator, researcher, and administrator in the field of gastroenterology. He has published over 160 articles in peer review journals, book chapters, books, and has received numerous awards and honors. He received the Medicine Science Award of 1992 by the Turkish Science and Technology Research Assembly, 1996 Best Gastroenterologist Award by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, and the 2003 Distinguished Clinician Award  by the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA). In October 2003; he received the Master in Gastroenterology Award from the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and the Fellow by AGA in 2007. He has been named to the Top Doctor’s in Houston and in the U.S. since 1995.

Article Preparation Guidelines

Manuscript title: The article title should not exceed more than 30 words. (Times New Roman font, bold, font size-19)

Author Information: Mention complete names and affiliation of all authors and include complete details of corresponding author such as Telephone number, email id and Fax. (Times New Roman font, bold, font size-11)

Abstract: The abstract should be concise and briefly explain the purpose of the research, the principle results and the conclusion. It should not be more than 350. Authors should mention minimum of 3 key words. (Times New Roman font, bold, font size-11)

Text:

Introduction: It should clearly State the objectives of the work and also provide the adequate background information, avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results. (Times New Roman font, bold, font size-11)

Materials and Methods: This part should provide complete details that would facilitate all procedures to be reciprocated. (Times New Roman font, bold, font size-11)

Results: The results part should be clear and explain concisely. (Times New Roman font, bold, font size-11)

Conclusions: These sections should clearly explain the importance and relevance of the article. (Times New Roman font, bold, font size-11)

Acknowledgement: Mention the individuals, institutions, grant details or research centers who contributed help during the research period. (Times New Roman font, bold, font size-11)

Conflicts of Interest: Kindly mention any potential conflicts of interest. (Times New Roman font, bold, font size-11)

Funding: Kindly mention if any funding or grants approve for the study. (Times New Roman font, bold, font size-11)

References: The style of referencing used is the Vancouver style. Author name followed by initials, Article title, journal title, Year of publication, volume number, issue number and page number. (Times New Roman font, bold, font size-11)

Tables: All the tables should be cited in the text and description should be given below the table.

Figures: Author are requested to provide high-resolution images,. The aim of the figure legend should be to describe the key messages of the figure and the figure should also be discussed in the text. If a figure has been published before, authors need to submit written permission letter from the copyright holder to reproduce the materials. Figure legend should begin with term 'Figure' followed by figure number (e.g. 'Figure 1').

Article Processing Fee: Medical press open access is a self-funded open access publisher and its operation solely depends on the fee received from the authors. Authors are requested to make payment once the article has been accepted for publication. If an author cannot afford the Article processing charges genuinely, then individual partial waiver requests are considered on a case-by-case basis and may be granted in cases of genuine need.
